The International Maritime Organization Gender Equality Network (IMOGENder) was established as a forum for IMO Member State delegates to work in a coordinated manner, share information and exchange ideas and best practices aimed at achieving gender equality and promoting the participation of women in the maritime sector.
IMOGENder was established as an end goal in itself, as per Assembly Resolution A.1147(31) which highlights the importance of women's network, as well as a means to implement other goals and outcomes mentioned in the resolution.
Resolution A.1147(31), Preserving the Legacy of the World Maritime Theme for 2019 and Achieving a Barrier-Free Working Environment for Women in the Maritime Sector, was unanimously adopted during the 31st session in 2019.
IMOGENder welcomes all delegates who are interested in promoting work on gender equality to join the network.
